Rules aren't the most enjoyable things on the planet, but they give order to the boards, therefor making the experience more enjoyable. I know my list is a little long, but it should cover anything that would bring up questions.
Rules of Conduct...
--- No spamming posts. This only applies to those who make a dozen posts in a row that have no subject or matter relating to the topic.
--- No chatspeak, please. I don't expect future Shakesperes out of everyone, but as long as you put some effort into your posts pretty much any level of literacy is fine.
---Keep the profanity and suggestive content minimal. If this site were a TV show, it would most likely be rated PG-14. A little cursing or mild details of description and/or violence is fine by me (see below), but please don't go posting streams of cussing, explicit and/or disturbing explinations of violence, or use the boards for personal gain. This is meant to be enjoyable for all members.
Offenses:
I. You will recieve a warning from one of the admins, explaining the cause and a (gentle) reminder of the rules.
II. Same as above, but this time without the "gentle" part.
III. Suspension from Lords' Tears for a set period. This is to show we're serious in keeping the boards user-friendly, and to give one last chance to abide the rules.
IV. Expulsion. You'll be banished from Lords' Tears for good. There are NO exceptions back in, as there's no way to accidently break the rules four straight times.
Guidelines of Posting...
---You may have a total of 3 Characters on Lords' Tears. If you make more than one character, please actually use them instead of just taking up space in the Character Bios page. If you're not using a character(s) and the pages start to fill up, I will ask you to remove the Bio until I see you are ready to handle additional characters.
---Please keep a steady pace together in a topic. When a new board is made, anyone may join in. Once the board has reached at least two to three full pages (indicated by a red or dark green book) new posters will be restricted so no one jumps into a plot's climax walking around looking for someone to notice them (some exceptions allowed). If you started a board and expect to be away for a while, you may choose to delete your posts or risk confusion and jump back in (with a post saying you're still in the board). Please try not to rally posts between two people so when the others log on they'll be behind 20 posts (unless the topic has already reached over the noted two to three pages and the only characters on the board are equally active).
--- Profanity and other suggestive should be kept to a minimun. Characters are allowed to swear once in a while when the time is right, but don't go overboard. Anything that would be normally censored with the common "bleep" on TV should be used SPARINGLY. F-bombs will not be tolerated at all, as well as another four-lettered word that rhymes with "sit".
---Stay in character as often as possible. Using OOC or double quotes to ask about the plot or clear up confusion is 100% acceptable, but please don't flood the boards with general chatting. There's a board made for that.
What about?...
---Number of topics/topics joined. I really have no limit to the amount of either of these. I feel posting restrictions just hinder the flow of communication between characters. There's no limit to how many topics you can make/join, but please don't go joining every new topic or creating a new thread for every new location. Also pointing out a fairly important guideline, you MAY join more than one topic with the same character at a time. What does this mean? This allows one of your characters that are currently in a board to join in another new one without having to leave/finish the first one. However, please don't reveal some great hidden new power, etc. in the new board, then carry it over to the first existing board your character was in, so no one's asking "when did he/she get that!?" Any questions on the somewhat confusing topic can be sent to me in a Private Message.
---Weaponry/Use of Power. Alright, this may not have crossed anyone's mind, but that is why I'm pointing it out. No character is invincible, and if enough people complain you're acting all-powerful you'll be subjective to an offense.
---Becomming a Moderator. Once membership rises, I'll begin to consider giving Mod power to some of our members. The requirements for becomming a Moderator are as follows:
1.) Must have a Third Ranking ("Seeker of the Waters") with a minimum of 50 posts.
2.) Must be an active member.
3.) Must have shown decent knowldge of Rules and Plot of Lords' Tears.
That's pretty much it. Once you have met these requirements, you may Message me that you desire to be a Mod (or you will recieve a Message from me if I've seen you're Mod potential). These powers will not be given out frequently, and will not be presented simply
because of personal aquientence. Please check back every so often fo an outdated rule doesn't get you in trouble.
